For a smile as wide as a country sunrise

Hi everyone, welcome back to our insect series. Today we have a “flower fly”, toxomerus marginatus species. There are quite a number of different flower flies but without a specific name for each species so are differentiated by their Latin names. No idea why that is though. Many flower flies look like bees or wasps and it can be very hard to tell the difference. This tiny flower fly is about 3/8 inch long and can be found from July to September. Have a great day everyone and God bless!

No, all flower flies are a more solitary type fly and are not dangerous to people, they don’t sting or bite. Have a good night!😊😻🌙😴😴

It does look like from a bee family isn’t it😉. Interesting one, love the orange pattern on its back. Lovely texture and still looks more umm… house fly 🤔😉 in a way it does looks like a house fly 😅 on other side it resembles a bee☺️. Beautiful shot ❤️

Looks like it could be a bee and yet it’s a fly, a small fly. I didn’t think I would be able to get a good picture of it because it’s so small and he kept flying when I got too close! Thanks so much Simon! Have a good, um, morning!😁📷😺☔☔
