For a smile as wide as a country sunrise
Good morning everyone! It is rather wet here today, we had thunderstorms move through again last night. We didn’t get a lot of rain, we must have been on the edge of the storms. But there was a lot of lightning and thunder. Poor Muffin. Not only was it too hot for her, but then to have the thunder on top of it, well, she didn’t get much sleep. So she is enjoying a nap right now, which will likely last all morning, and maybe into the afternoon as well. The birds were not singing much this morning as there was light rain from the time I got up until just a little while ago. When it rains they prefer to try and stay dry, can’t blame them for that. A loon was calling so beautifully early this morning, before I got out of bed, it sounded so nice. I would like to get a pic of a loon chick, especially while they are still young enough to be riding on the parent’s back. They usually have one or two chicks, but I have seen three chicks once. But it seems that one chick is the normal for them.
I am having my coffee indoors this morning, but you probably guessed that already. I forgot to mention in yesterday’s Daily Pics that it was my 400th post for the year. Thank you everyone for being here so regularly, reading my posts and enjoying my pics! Only had one gull here this morning, one of the not quite so friendly ones, but as long as I don’t look at him then he will come down for the food. The chipmunks and one squirrel were here early once again. Skamper is still the most friendly of the chipmunks, but Skitter is getting there fast though he would still be in third place after Pocket. Now time for some pink wildflower pics…

The featured image at the top is the alsike clover just beginning to open. In the above pic is the “twinflower”, one of my all time favorite wildflowers. They are small, the plant is about 2 inches (5cm) tall and the flower is about half an inch (about 12mm) long. I had to lie on the ground to get this pic. And they have such a beautiful scent, something you notice long before seeing these small flowers.

In the above pic is the wild rose, or pasture rose. They are not so beautiful as the garden variety perhaps, but they are beautiful in their simplicity and they also have a most wonderful scent that can carry a long distance as well. There we have our pics for today. I hope you all have a fantastic Thursday and God bless!
Steve and Muffin.

I probably have not even done half the posts you have. Just sort of taking it easy this year. Last year sort of wore me out.
You are consistent brother! That’s what counts๐
Thanks! You too! Tell Muffin no toe biting or scratching tonight๐

It actually cooled off so much in here last night that Muffin was back to sleeping with me. When it gets too hot she sleeps by herself in the coolest place she can find, normally by her window.
Posting too much can be hard at times, best to find a schedule that works good without draining you.
Have a great day Stu!๐๐บ๐

I wish it would cool off some down here. This heat is draining me. Staying hydrated but dang it just sweats right back out.

Well Steve, the rain will keep those wildflowers blooming. Yesterday’s walk took me to a different park for my first visit of the summer. Fortunately, I took my camera, and my route took to a rendezvous with a very relaxed deer.

Hey, that’s great! Yes, you should always have that camera ready just in case! The wildflowers are really starting to pop now. I was hoping to get out to a different area to find some ladyslippers, but it just hasn’t worked out and it’s probably too late now. Too bad.๐๐ท
